Above Me Stars looks upwards. Russ McRee imagined a wilderness night away from city lights, with stars flickering, sparkling and shifting across the open sky. That image gives the fourth piece from The Peace of Wild Things a brighter character, carried by guitar, bass and drums. The music has a gentle bounce to it. Guitar traces the melody while the rhythm keeps the piece moving, reflecting the small movements of light that first inspired it. Its title comes from Wendell Berry’s The Peace of Wild Things, continuing McRee’s instrumental response to the natural images within the poem.
