Andalou brings the acoustic guitar into a space where the roots of the blues meet a quieter, more personal way of playing.

Across ten instrumental compositions, Gary O'Slide explores the expressive possibilities of acoustic strings, moving between traditional Delta blues phrasing, gentle fingerstyle passages and the open resonance of slide guitar. The arrangements leave room for silence and natural decay, allowing each melody to find its own pace.

The album moves through contrasting shades. Anxiété introduces a restrained sense of unease, while Dark Wild reaches towards a darker, more traditional blues language. Harmonieuse and Méditation offer moments of melodic clarity and stillness. Elsewhere, In the grave and Pleine ombre return to the earthy character of Delta slide guitar, before Rodéo brings a more pronounced rhythmic energy.

There is a feeling of distance throughout Andalou, reminiscent of open landscapes and roads that disappear beyond the horizon. Yet the music remains intimate, grounded in the touch of the strings rather than elaborate production.

It is an album about the expressive possibilities of a familiar instrument, where the spaces between the notes can carry just as much meaning as the melodies themselves.
