Dedica is the most intimate and grounded moment of the project by Fabio Mazzini and Friedrich. Inspired by the poetry of Nino Pedretti, the piece is devoted to women shaped by land, work, and quiet resilience. It unfolds as a gesture of gratitude rather than a declaration, rooted in attention and care. The music moves within jazz instrumentals and cinematic instrumental music, touching the reflective spaces between modern classical sensitivity and contemporary jazz language.
The dialogue between Fender Rhodes and lap steel guitar is restrained and patient. The Rhodes offers a grounded harmonic field, steady and warm, like earth beneath bare feet. The lap steel answers with long, bending phrases that carry tenderness and quiet strength, its voice shaped by breath and memory rather than flourish.
The structure remains minimal and chamber like, allowing tone and harmony to carry meaning. The music listens before it speaks. Echoes of European jazz sensitivity appear in the voicings and pacing, while a modern classical clarity keeps the space open and uncluttered. Yet the emotional center stays close to Italian poetic tradition, where gesture and silence hold as much weight as sound.
As the closing chapter of the EP, Dedica gathers the subtle threads of the previous pieces and returns them to their source. Memory, identity, and gratitude become audible through a conversation between two instruments that move with equal strength and gentleness.
