With Deus ti salvet Maria, Alessandra Alba returns to Sardinian traditional repertoire through one of its most deeply rooted devotional songs. The performance is centred on Alba’s voice, accompanied by Andrea Quarantelli on guitar. The arrangement remains deliberately restrained, allowing the melody and Sardinian language to stay at the centre of the listening experience. Following No Potho Reposare, the release continues a path connected to Sardinian music, memory and interpretation. The connection between the two recordings is not simply stylistic. Both explore what happens when a traditional song is performed again in the present, carrying meanings shaped by generations of voices. There is a spiritual dimension to Deus ti salvet Maria, but also an intensely human one. Its devotional character becomes a space for stillness, reflection and connection with a musical culture that continues to live through performance. Recorded and mixed by Andrea Carozzo at La Saletta Studio and mastered by Raighes Factory Studio, the recording keeps the production close to the performers, allowing voice and guitar to define the character of the piece. Rather than reinventing the song, Alessandra Alba and Andrea Quarantelli give it another place in which to continue.
