An exploration of memory, emotion and self-discovery through violin and live looping.

Originally released independently on 1 December 2018, Me in Loop is a seven-track album by Sardinian violinist and composer Simone Soro. Built around the expressive possibilities of the violin, loop station and electronic processing, the project brings together elements of contemporary classical music, experimental composition and ambient textures.

At the heart of the album is a simple idea: emotions rarely follow a straight line. They return, change shape and sometimes lead us back to places we thought we had left behind. Soro translates this experience into music through repetition, layered melodies and contrasting moments of stillness and intensity.

The album opens with Questo sono io (This Is Me), an introduction to a personal journey that unfolds through seven emotional states. Ansia explores unease and inner tension, while Nostalgia reflects on the bittersweet pull of memory. Solitudine turns towards the quieter experience of being alone, finding space for reflection rather than simply sadness.

With Ricerca (Searching), the music moves towards questioning and discovery. Scelta (Choice) considers the possibility of responding consciously to our emotions, before Entusiasmo (Enthusiasm) brings the journey to a close with a renewed sense of energy and movement.

Throughout the album, the violin takes on multiple roles, from melodic voice to rhythmic foundation and atmospheric texture. Through looping, individual musical phrases gradually become part of something larger, creating a dialogue between repetition and change.

Me in Loop is both a personal reflection and an invitation to listen more closely to the emotions that shape our everyday lives.
